Every week, I visit some senior adults at an assisted living facility next-door to our church.
Usually, I prepare a devotion and lead that devotion with them every week. But this week, I decided to hear some of their favorite verses and stories from the Bible.
One of the ones that were shared was Romans chapter 8. Paul in Romans chapter 8 explains that those who have Christ have become adopted as children of God.
Anyone who comes to Jesus becomes a child of God.
I think this is an important reminder for us today — especially those of us who are parents.
Often times, we parents fully embrace that role. We are leaders. We are responsible; we are in charge.
We embodied the role of parent so well, and so often that we forget to live out our life as a child of God.
Right now, one of the most enjoyable things in my life is seeing my young kids happy around me. The past few weeks, my one-year-old randomly has come up and hugged my leg. I don’t think there’s many things in this world that mean more to me now than that simple act from my child.
As I was reflecting on Romans chapter 8, I had to imagine that God feels similarly. He loves it when his children come show him our love.
And there’s nothing that makes him happier than we do.
God loves us, his children. As much as we love our own kids, God feels the same way about us.
Today, take a few moments to reflect on how you are loved and cherished child of God. Embrace his love for us.
