He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Psalm 46:10–11 (NIV)
There is something foreign to us modern Christians about silence and listening.
Our fast-paced, content driven world primes us for a life filled to the brim with anything and everything.
Everything… but peace.
How does the psalmist assume we will find God?
It is not in the doing or the succeeding.
Rather, it is in the stillness.
In the stillness, we listen.
As we listen, we are able to find and know who God actually is.
So, be still. Listen, and know God.
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Psalm 46:10–11 (NIV)
