Devotional Tuesday: The Jesus Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.
The Jesus prayer has been used across the Christian world for years, especially in the eastern tradition.
The prayer: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner” has been an unceasing prayer raised up in the lives of all God’s people.
The Jesus Prayer makes us focus on Jesus. He is the subject. He is the center.
The Jesus Prayer helps us understand our relation to Jesus: we are humble recipients of his grace. It acknowledges our prior standing with him, while also affirming the goodness of Jesus which is unceasingly poured upon us.
The beauty of this prayer is its reflective and contemplative nature.
