Insight on my personal Bible reading

Bible reading has become a very significant part of the modern Christian’s life.

Following the invention of the printing press, Bibles have become steadily more available and accessible for the masses—especially in the West.

We often forget that for 1500 years, most people only heard the Bible read to them at church. It is a beautiful blessing to read and study the Bible ourselves.

According to some studies, regular Bible users include people who use (listen, read, or engage with) the Bible three or four times a year. The American Bible Society annual survey reports that 38% of Americans (99 million) will use the Bible this year.

Since I was a teenager, reading the Bible has been a part of life. Since middle school, I have read the Bible regularly—well above the low standard of three to four times a year.

However, it was not until I was in Bible college that I started to evolve a practice for daily/regular Bible reading. Even then, there were times I would not read every day. I have always read the Bible weekly—privately and outside church/work—but only recently have I created a deep desire to engage with the Bible.
