I'm reading John Mark Comer's new book, and I was honestly blown away by the fact that most scholars believe both boys and girls attended the class in the synagogue, and it is likely that many students knew the entire Torah by memory by the time they finished what would be like 8th grade.
We are so blessed to have the Bible physically with us, but I wish we put the same emphasis on memorization. I'm feeling convicted to return to Bible memorization myself and starting to emphasize it with my girls.
